Mondelēz International has introduced higher levels of recycled plastic packaging across parts of its Cadbury Easter range for 2026, including several bag sizes of Cadbury Mini Eggs.

The company said the 31.9g, 74g and 256g Mini Eggs bags will now use 65% certified recycled plastic, allocated through a mass balance system. The change is expected to use around 100 tonnes of post-consumer recycled plastic, equivalent to approximately 70 million Mini Eggs bags per year.

Packaging updates have also been introduced across other Easter products. Small and large Cadbury Easter tablets will use 80% certified recycled plastic packaging, representing around 16 million bars and approximately 34 tonnes of plastic. Meanwhile, the ribbon handle on the Cadbury Special Gesture Shell Egg range has been replaced with a recyclable cardboard handle.

The new packaging has been developed in partnership with Amcor, using the company’s AmFiniti recycled content technology, which converts post-consumer plastic waste into new packaging material. Across the Easter range, Mondelēz said around 134 tonnes of recycled plastic will be used this year.

Joanna Dias, UK & Ireland sustainability lead at Mondelēz International, said: “Our Cadbury Mini Eggs range is an iconic Easter treat, loved by people across the UK & Ireland, and this is an exciting moment to increase our use of recycled plastic packaging across the Easter range.”

Janice Narainsamy, senior product development engineer at Amcor, added: “Expanding recycled content into seasonal favourites such as the Easter range demonstrates what’s possible when innovation and partnership align.”
