Industrial automation and digital transformation company, Rockwell Automation, Inc., has teamed up with Iceland’s premier chocolatier, Nói Síríus, to enhance the company’s production-line performance and streamline its maintenance operations.
Nói Síríus, a beloved household name in Iceland, faced the challenge of improving the reliability and efficiency of its production line while alleviating the workload on its maintenance team. After evaluating various solutions, the company chose to implement the Fiix computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) from Rockwell Automation to manage its maintenance operations more effectively.
With Fiix CMMS, Nói Síríus has been able to capture critical data on the performance and maintenance status of its core assembly-line machinery, leading to significant improvements in productivity.
“This has been a highly collaborative and successful project,” said Asa Arvidsson, Regional Vice President of Sales, North Region, Rockwell Automation. “Together with Nói Síríus, our consultants helped design streamlined maintenance workflows using the Fiix platform. It’s been highly gratifying to see the improvements this has made in such a short time. We very much appreciate the partnership with Nói Síríus and look forward to the outcomes of the predictive-maintenance project.”
In just four months, the Nói Síríus maintenance team transitioned from primarily reactive maintenance to focusing on preventive measures aimed at avoiding downtime before it occurred. The Fiix intelligent queue-management features allowed the team to minimize disruptions and work collaboratively with operations staff to prioritize tasks effectively.
Now, over six months into the deployment, Rockwell Automation and Nói Síríus are collaborating on a project to network the entire production facility. Once completed, the chocolatier will adopt a data-driven, predictive maintenance model, expected to further maximize uptime, reduce costs, and enhance productivity.
“Since adopting Fiix software, our maintenance staff are much happier,” said Guðmundur Ingi Einarsson, Technical Manager at Nói Síríus. “They now focus on preventing downtime rather than reacting to it. We have the data needed to prioritise work intelligently and find solutions faster. The predictive-maintenance project promises even greater improvements in the future.”
